Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant

When it comes to exfoliation, I used to always use an abrasive one with plenty of tough grains in so I felt like I could really feel it working and in fairness it did work, I would always be left with soft skin. My view on this however has changed and I will now try and stay clear of such products and opt instead for a chemical exfoliant which sounds pretty scary but in fact it's a far better option for you skin.
Unlike the skin on your body which can withstand a pretty good scrubbing and benefit from it, the skin on your face is far more delicate and I've come to learn through my own experience and from the advice of such beauty mavericks as Caroline Hirons and Lisa Eldridge that scrubbing your face is a big no no. It is simply too delicate and can cause a lot of irritation, especially on acne prone skin where by exfoliating in the traditional sense you're bound to do more harm than good.
Chemical exfoliants on the other hand are a great alternative to get rid of that dull dead skin and bring new life to your face, they commonly use ingredients such Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid in small amounts to almost dissolve the dead skin (not as scary as it sounds!). Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant is one of these and was recommended in a video by Lisa Eldridge so of course I decided to try it and boy am I glad I did. It's a lovely thick cream mask that goes on beautifully and does exactly what it says on the tin, 10-15 minutes with this bad boy on my face and my skin feels and looks completely rejuvenated. The texture of my skin after using this is incredibly soft and any other creams or serums you put on afterwards melt beautifully into your skin. As much as I love this and I really do, it won't be your cup of tea if you're purely looking for a feel good mask shall we say. This has nothing to do with the results but purely down to the fact that there's no nice scent to the product so in that way it's quite a plain mask and it also slightly tingles which is good because it shows you it's working but might not be for everyone.
I would absolutely recommend this mask to anyone who wants a simple yet effective exfoliation for all skin types as Dermalogica products have been fairly trust worthy in my experience however if you have ultra sensitive skin I would definitely recommend trying a sample first.
