BEAUTY: My Evening Skincare Routine
As promised, it's time to talk you through my evening skincare routine and like with my morning routine, I'm so happy with it at the moment. So we start with cleaning and this differs depending on whether I'm wearing makeup or not. If I am wearing makeup then I'll use The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil and massage it all over my face, neck and eyes before wetting my hands, giving
it another massage to lather up a bit and then removing it with a warm flannel. This is such a great makeup remover and is gentle enough to massage right into your eyelashes without any stinging. I then go in with the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm, which is my all time favourite cleanser, you can read my original review of it here, and repeat the same process to give my skin a good, thorough cleanse. If I'm not wearing makeup then I'll start with the Emma Hardie and then use Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser for my second cleanse which is great for oily skin as it contains clay but also leaves your skin feeling beautifully soft without any tightness. I will sometimes just cleanse once with the Emma Hardie balm but only if I've been inside all day and haven't put anything on my face, if there's been any makeup, spf or if I've been outside where any grime or pollution (lovely thought!) could have come into contact with my skin then I'll always double cleanse.
After cleansing it's time to acid tone and at the moment I'm using the Zelens PHA+ Bio-Peel Resurfacing Face Pads which are great although they are very pricey but I had quite a lot of points on my Space NK N.dulge card so that softened the blow a bit! I've been trying to avoid glycolic acids for the past month because I thought they might be irritating my skin, it seems like they were not but I'm going to continue to use these glycolic free pads for the time being because I absolutely love them, they feel gentle on the skin but they do a great job in exfoliating and leaving your skin beautifully soft. I then go onto my second toner which is always a hydrating mist and I'm currently using the Caudalie Grape Water which I had never used before until recently and I really like it. It gives you a great boost of hydration in an easy to control and even spray and best of all it is so reasonable at £10.00 for a whopping 200ml.
Now's the time I put on my eye cream and as with my morning routine, I normally use a sample so at the moment I'm still using the Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate which is really lovely. Once the eye cream's done, it's time for serums and I start with probably the most talked about skincare product of the year and that's Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil which I absolutely love. Luna is an oil which contains an advanced retinol complex and it's job is to tighten pores, even out skin tone, repair damaged skin and to fight wrinkles so it's not a traditional hydrating oil but a retinol treatment which you should use as a serum. It's got this fantastic deep blue colour and it absorbs really easily so it's a joy to use and after using it for six weeks I have actually noticed that my acne scars are looking a little better and when I wake up in the morning my skin looks much clearer than usual so I think this oil does actually warrant the extremely hefty price tag.
As I mentioned in my Morning Skincare Routine post, my skin has become very dehydrated over the past few years and I had heard so many great things about this next product that I decided to take the plunge and I'm so glad that I did because I am so in love with it. This fantastic product is the MV Organic Skincare Rose Plus Booster which is a gorgeous blend of oils with Rosehip being the most prominent, so you can imagine how incredible it smells and it's aimed at people with dehydrated skin and/or if your skin is troubled in any way so basically it is just fantastic for anyone who has skin! This hydrates my skin so well and calms down any redness so if when I apply it at night my skin is looking particularly angry, upon waking my skin looks and feels so much better and is still well hydrated. This is called a booster and I really think that it does give the skin a boost but also helps boost the effects of other products because this works so well with Luna and I think the combination of the two is just incredible and actually displays really impressive results.
I will often leave it there because the Rose Plus Booster hydrates me enough but if I'm feeling particularly dehydrated or if the weather gets a bit colder then I'll add a bit of moisturiser on top and the one that I've been using for quite a while now is Origins A Perfect World which is really good at balancing your skin, is light but still feels like you're using a substantial moisturiser if that makes sense and smells gorgeously fresh.
I know this all seems quite long winded but it really doesn't take that long to do and these products are a real pleasure to use, my skin is definitely thanking me.
