BEAUTY: The Cream That Has Saved My Hands
For the past couple of years, especially during the colder months, the skin on my hands has betrayed my mere twenty eight years on this planet and instead resemble that of someone much older, the image of a desiccating Egyptian mummy comes to mind. They really have become a constant problem with their scale like consistency and brittle dryness causing them to be constantly sore to the
point of my skin splitting leaving me with cuts all over my hand. I have been through gallons of hand cream over the past few years, you name it I've tried it, with very little success. A few have offered mild relief with some improvement but it would only take an hour or so until the flaky, mummy hands returned, lovely image I know! That was until my life, well rather my hands, let's not get too dramatic, were transformed with the help of The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector.
This cream has been around for a while, in fact I'd even tried it some years ago when my hands suffered no such problem and liked it but didn't love it as much as I do now because there wasn't a hint of dryness to my hands back then so I couldn't really get the full effect. I got this Thursday evening and with my skin peeling and raw I applied a generous pea sized amount to each hand and straight away, for the first time in many months, my hands felt soothed and were even smoother. I applied the cream once more before bed and when I awoke in the morning, it was literally as if I'd woken up with someone else's hands or even grown a brand spanking new pair. They were transformed. Gone was the rough, dry, brittle skin and in it's place was skin that was perfectly smooth, soft and youthful with even the cuts completely closed and smooth, bare indentations left in their place. I really have never had such an immediate effect from any product before, let alone a hand cream, and I can assure you that this post is in no way sponsored by The Body Shop, I am just so impressed by this cream.
I think what makes this cream so effective is the rich, buttery texture it has which feels heavy and slightly greasy upon application, yet actually absorbs pretty quickly leaving your hands feeling beautifully plump and hydrated with very little greasy residue. Another quality this cream has which makes it special in my book is that even after you wash your hands, you can still feel that the cream is there doing it's job and continuing to moisturise, unlike other creams I've used in the past where you have to reapply every time you wash your hands which is always a pain and obviously uses up more product. With that in mind, I think the price tag of £11.00 for 100ml (it's £5.00 for the 30ml tube) is very reasonable indeed, especially since £1.50 from each tube sold goes directly to The Body Shop Foundation which aims to enrich not only it's products but also the planet and it's people; their moto is to enrich not exploit.
If you haven't already tried the Hemp Hand Protector then I would whole heartedly recommend it, I mean who wouldn't want baby soft hands while helping the planet a little. You can pick it up at any The Body Shop store or from their website here.
